Laguna
The Oceânico Laguna was designed by Joseph Lee and is situated close to the beautiful coastline of the Algarve in Vilamoura. It is of modern design, with large fairways, allowing big hitters to hit more freely. Laguna suggests water and there is certainly no shortage of it on this course as it features on approximately half of the holes! Water is not the only hazard to avoid on this course as bunkers also play a leading role. The greens are interestingly designed and Laguna looks more intimidating than it plays giving the high handicap golfer more confidence. Laguna is considerably different from the other ones at the resort and many of its holes convey a links atmosphere. U.S. golf architect Joseph Lee designed this course which was opened in 1990 and many previous visitors will recognise it as part of the former 27 hole “Vilamoura III” course. It has been subject to continual improvements over the years. Laguna shares a large, welcoming clubhouse with the neighbouring Millennium Course.
