Quinta do Lago North
Quinta do Lago is an exclusive golf and residential estate nestling in nearly 2000 acres of verdant countryside and pine forests bordering the Atlantic Ocean and the Ria Formosa Natural Park, in the acclaimed “Beverly Hills” of the sunny Algarve.
The three 18 hole golf courses at Quinta do Lago offer distinguished challenges for the discerning golfer. The gently ondulating terrain is similar on the three courses, based on sandy Algarvean soil covered with pine trees, heather, broom and many beautiful wild flowers and organge groves surrounding the “Laranjal”.
Since its creation in 1972, Quinta do Lago has won several awards for excellence and it is a symbol of quality tourism, a place where outstanding natural beauty is perfectly complemented by a luxurious lifestyle.
The Quinta do Lago North was designed by several architects. William Mitchell was responsible for holes 1 to 5 and 15 to 18, while Joseph Lee and Rocky Roquemore designed the course from hole 6 to 14.
It offers however, very different challenges. The Par 4 are generally doglegs, with the exception of holes 10 and 13.
Quinta do Lago North Course has hosted several Portuguese Opens and continues to be the venue for national and international tournaments.
The signature hole is the wonderful 12th, with lake on the left side, which initiates 150 metres, escorting the fairway, till near the green. While on the tee off you can use a long iron, the second shot terrifies because have to fly over the intimidating lake…
